This is the Urban Aran from the Patons Street Smart book, the same one of Must Have cardigan fame.
When I first found the booklet for the Must Have, I checked out the other patterns including this one.
"That needs a zipper!" was my first thought. My theory is that the design originally called for one but some clever editor with a quota to fill decided that since there was only one other pullover in the book, the cardigan version had to go.
I'm not the only one who thought so. Last year, Laura made a cardigan version as well. Here's photographic evidence to support my zipper theory. Doesn't this say, "I should have been a cardigan"?
And I guess you want the specs:
I used Headwater Wool, Daina. It is a little chunkier than the pattern called for so I made the necessary adjustments. I picked it up at the DKC's Knitter's Fair last spring, promptly started it and then just as quickly abandoned it when the weather turned too hot to have wool anywhere near a living, breathing body. This is a very warm sweater, which is just as well because the wind chill around here is about -16'C today, but sunny so I braved the elements for ya. We Canadians are hardy stock or maybe just plain crazy.*
*Anyone who knows me knows I am the biggest cold weather wuss in the world. But I draw the line at the toque.
