Before Christmas I picked up this footstool frame at a thrift store. I love my old footstool but it seemed it was being borrowed by other people in the house on a regular basis and I thought another one might come in handy.
I guess before I go much further I have to acknowledge the sad tale of that big red ball of wool.
That was supposed to be my birthday sweater but just before Christmas Eve (my B-day) I realised it was not going to get finished in time and shortly after that, I realised the Top Down Percentage Method resulted in one amazon of a sweater not at all the percentage of me! So I unravelled it.
So the footstool. After I cut out the fabric for the stool I had enough left over to experiment with.
I was given an ereader for my birthday so I had to have a case for it, right?
I was looking at leather book-style cases online and decided to have a go at one.
I think part of the fun of making things is in the figuring out how to do it. From a photo and nothing more.
At least it is for me.
Then there was still some yardage left over, just enough for a simple tote bag.
I may not be the best sewer(sewist?) in the world but I can figure most things out.
A friend is bringing me a bag of leather to play some more. It's really for doll house furniture (no sew just glue!) I only get my ailing sewing machine out occasionally. It has exhausting tension issues.
So back to the footstool; I got distracted :)
As you can see I also didn't have it in me right now to start the red sweater over again and so I started knitting something new.
That will be the fourth new thing, soon.
Er, relatively soon :)

Oh, that new sweater is going to be beautiful! Love that tote bag, too. You do good work.

I love all of the things you made but (apologies) I can't remember any of them now I'm at the bottom of the post because I am transfixed on your beautiful fairisle knitting - stunning!

Love the footstool - quite elegant! And the bag, and the thingy for the e-reader.
Now, about starting new things all the time. I think we can all relate to that. I still have a sweater I finished knitting a year or so ago, partly sewn but not quite yet.
Gonna tackle that this week. Really. Promiss...

I'm actually blogging again (but I've switched from blogger over to typepad for good now). I love that your e-reader has a cover AND a matching tote. Can't wait to see the fair isle cardi!

Love the colorful Fair Isle cardigan! I agree with you, part of the thrill of hand making is the process, figuring out things, and learning something along the way. I wonder whether all these tutorials on the simplest things don't actual hamper creativity a little!

Wow I am absolutely impressed with your skills! The footstool is great but the Kobo cover and the bag - awesome! And I also really love your sweater.
