I know we are no where near P in the ABC Along but J and K are no where to be found right now and P has presented itself so here we go.
I don't think I've shown you my Porch.
I am in love with my screened-in porch.
It is the perfect bug-free zone and makes me feel cottagey and happy in this too short summer season.
I plunked my rescued wicker furniture in there at the one end, the small patio table and at the beginning, a baker's rack with all my seedling trays. Currently the BBQ is in there too as it has rained for 40 days and 40 ... well every day at the beginning of this season, usually at suppertime.
One day I got to thinking how the furniture needed a few Pillows.
And I got a little carried away making pillows. In fact, I am still making them.
I am in recycle mode so all of these pillows are made from scraps from other projects, which is sometimes easy to work with and sometimes a nuisance of design decisions. Even the buttons are recycled.
I did yearn for specific trims and matching zippers but in the end I think simple is best. And it helps to not fuss and just get on with it.
The ribbon pillow is actually made of seam bindings that my Gran had kept, taken off of other clothing I suppose. She was a mad seamstress and it was a different era when recycling was just done as a matter of course, not as a green lifestyle choice. But imagine, saving used seam binding.
All the fish 'eyes' are her buttons as well.
The funny thing is, I have sat at the small table on this porch many times reading the paper, having a meal, knitting those darned tawashi. I have even watched television from the table, having turned the TV from the family room around so we could see it from the porch. But I have never actually sat on the wicker furniture.
The cats have, mostly, since that is all the outdoors they get, except for Seamus, hunter extraordinaire, and a few occasional escapees. Here is Min, as I see her from my chair at the computer desk in the family room, enjoying the late afternoon sun doing what it is cat's do best, nothing.
I haven't painted in here because there are plans for making it part of the family room.
I am okay with this, as long as a new porch is added on at the same time.
It's in my contract.
I must have a Porch.
Now if anyone has a K hanging around that they are not using, bring it over.
We can drink lemonade and actually sit in there, amongst the pillows.
At least, virtually. We all need a little more time to just be a cat sit, don't we?
