Peonies.
It's been incredibly stressful around here but I feel it's important to enjoy every little thing that comes your way. I have been literally watching these peonies open over the course of the morning. I've seen so many around blogland and they are such a special treat.
Fresh Rhubarb, baked into a pie.
Kittens at play. These two have not been formally introduced. Stay tuned.
Knitting outside without too many bugs or too much humidity yet
Here's a buttonhole bag made this week for a friend's 50th birthday gift . Made of Paton's classic in a heathered blue. It is incredibly soft.
Inside is a Bread cookbook. Last year she made a bread oven, too. Or shall I say, she designed one and large brawny men made it for her. I don't even think she's cooked in it yet , just used it as an outdoor fireplace. I'll try to take a picture of it at her party. Hers is a large masonry oven, nothing like my humble version.
And if it didn't turn out to be a Cupcake Friday again.
After her riding lesson Littlest was getting together with her equestrian classmates for a pool party BBQ at one of the girl's houses. Littlest requested cupcakes. ( Turns out the party was postponed due to bad weather)
I can't help but think that somewhere in the back of my mind was this bath bomb she bought for another pool party birthday for Sunday ( Don't you want a piece of your child's social calendar action?) and served as inspiration for the technicolour marzipan flowers.
Also enjoying... having my camera back.
It turns out one teenage son had taken the batteries out to use in his Gameboy, tucked into his backpack all week.
The picture of the kittens is my favorite!

What great pictures! Peonies...love peonies. Rhubarb...love rhubarb! Esp. in a pie, and such a pretty pie! And kittens...of course I love kittens (but you knew that already). Is that a bundle of lavender next to that fantastic bag? (I just harvested a bunch from my mom's garden today, more aromatic yumminess!)
I'm not even going to start in on the cupcakes. Just looking at that picture is making me weak in the knees...

Your kittens look like great buddies. That is a great photo. I so love peonies; their fragrance, their gentle wielding to the weight of the flowers. The pie and the cupcakes look great too; the cupcakes are so creative - what did you use for the flowers?? Lush is such a great store.
The bag is wonderful; your friend will definitely enjoy.

And by all means, enjoy every moment you can!

That bag is just beautiful. You did a great job with it!
I also love your peonies. That's one thing I will need to have in my garden, once we are settled -- peonies, ants & all!
I can't wait to see more pics of your kittens -- I'm living vicariously, "awwwwing" over the picture of the one little guy with his paw over his buddy's shoulder.

Doncha just love teen-age kids with Gameboys? My particular downfall is a teen girl with a walk-man that eats batteries. Continuously. The flowers and yummy treats look delightful. Have you noticed how much little kittens brighten up one's outlook on life? They are adorable!

I love the shade of your pink peonies. My pink ones are a very pale pink -- almost too pale. But I do have a pretty scrumptious red one that is going to open soon. And those cupcakes....yum!!!
